Notes for Crews

Some very brief notes for GUCR Crews

Practice crewing on another race or long training run. Bagging can be quite stressful and extremely tiring so save some Red Bull for yourself. Your comfort is important so take plenty of warm clothes. Help with the packing so that you know where every thing is. Be prepared for your veh icle becoming a tip within minutes of the race starting. Learn to position the vehicle as near to the route as safely possible. If unable to get close, carry most likely needed items to route - runners hate going extra yards. Expect grumpiness from your charge! Don't trouble them with your problems. Try to give the impression that all is going well, but don't look as though you're enjoying it too much as this may cause resentment. Try to get whatever is asked for. Keep track of progress - stay ahead. Do offer encouragement. Don't tell the organiser how hard crewing is! Don't blame the organiser for not knowing the exact road route to every bridge on the canal or to your home from the finish.
